Dylan's BI Study Notes

My notes about Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, OLAP, and Master Data Management

DBI Overview Page

A page in Oracle Daily Business Intelligence provides summarized content for a particular functional area. It is close to the concept of “Dashboard” or a single “page” of a Dashboard in Oracle BI enterprise edition. It is like a OBIEE Dashboard which provides personalized view of the data and is created for groups of people with common job functions or responsibility. However, OBIEE allows you to group multiple pages under a given dashboard as multiple tabs across the top of a dashboard.  A DBI page does not support the Tab navigation.

Each DBI Overview page can consist of the following features:

  • A list of Parameters
  • A table to show the Key Performance Indictors
  • Multiple Regions

A DBI Overview page looks exact like a DBI Report. It may be confusing. The key point is that the reports are owners of the components (DBI Regions). A DBI page (or a.k.a. DBI dashboard) pulls the components from various reports and provide the entry point to drill down to the individual reports.

A OBIEE page is a page that display any OBIEE components that can you can access from the browser. It appears as tabs across the top of the dashboard.

Each dashboard can have multiple pages. A dashboard at least has one page. A page is created specifically for a dashboard.
